Dr.
Drip Drop - He's got style, moves,
a voice and a history. His repertoire has established him as the
King of rhythm and blues in Natchitoches. Backed by the cadre of fine musicians
that form the Roques Blues Band,
Overton
Owens, a.k.a. "Dr. Drip Drop", has recorded
his voice and his essence for blues aficionados in a debut album entitled"Next
Time You See Me." Born in 1924,
Owens sang and performed from the time he was 8 years old. He was
influenced by and performed with Willie Dixon, Chuck Ellis, Lowell Fulson
and Bobby Bland. He has influenced the music and performers of Natchitoches
Parish for 74 years. In 1997, his contributions to Louisiana
music were recognized with the following:
1.) Inducted into the Hall of Master Folk
Artists by the Louisiana Folklife Center,
