The first 10 photographs are 2 juke joints on the south side of Highway 18 in and near Hermanville, Mississippi a few miles east of Port Gibson, Mississippi. I took them on April 14, 2000.

Pink Palace This juke joint, located in Hermanville, is probably the most photogenic juke joint in Mississippi. The building is 3 side-by-side mobile homes with the common walls removed. That makes it probably the most unusual juke joint in Mississippi. | |
| In order to catch the sunlight on the building's front for a really beautiful photograph, I suggest you arrive at 8 am and pray for a cloudless day. This was taken around 5 pm. |
|
As you see from the photos below, the inside of the Pink Palace is like a folk art museum. The owner, Reuben James, is a nice guy, and he opens the doors on Friday and Saturday afternoons and evenings. Ask permission before taking photos.
| In my humble Delta bum opinion (IMHDBO) these 2 wall paintings are as good as any Picasso hanging on any wall anywhere. Mississippi Arts Commission, take note of an amazing but unknown talent. Imagine what these look like at night when those Christmas lights are energized.
